Promasidor Ghana has rewarded outstanding schools and students in the maiden edition of the “Sachet to Treasure Schools Challenge,” a recycling initiative spearheaded by its beverage brand Twisco to promote environmental sustainability at selected schools in Greater Accra. Lekma 2 Primary School was adjudged the overall winner (47,760 points) through the collection of used Twisco sachets with Lekma 5 Junior High School (33,931 points) and Omanjor M/A 3 School (28,404 points) bagging the first runner-up and second runner-up positions respectively.

The competition, implemented in partnership with the Ghana Education Service, began with 82 basic schools across the Greater Accra Region with the top 50 schools advancing to the second phase of the challenge.

According to Promasidor Ghana’s Head of Quality, Sustainability, Safety, Health and Environment (QSSHE), Bernadette Klu, the initiative forms part of the company’s commitment to tackling plastic waste while educating young people about environmental responsibility under Sustainable Development Goals 3-Good health and Well Being; Goal 6 – Clean Water & Sanitation, Goal 11 Sustainable Cities and Communities and Goal 12 Responsible Consumption and Production.

“As a business, we are engaging school children to imbibe in them the importance of waste segregation, recycling and sustainability,” she said.
