An elder of the Bortianor Stool, angered by the public rants of the Dzaasetse of Weija Stool, Ogbedada Boafo Denyina-Nse 1, including reportedly describing a court ruling as fake, is warning the Weija elders behind the media attacks to stop misinforming the public and the people of Weija about the compensation being paid by the government, in respect of the land acquired by the state for the Weija Dam Project by virtue of EI 130 of 1977.
The elder who spoke to the paper on condition of strict anonymity indicated that “The compensation monies in respect of the Weija Dam will not be paid to people or stools he thinks should be paid but to people or stools who actually put in claims and are known to Land Commission as claimants.”
He, Nii Boafo Denyina-Nse 1, and another, the elder intimated, have sued nine persons including representatives of the Bortianor and Jamestown Stool, stools he has no jurisdiction over, that they were collecting compensation monies meant for the Weija Stool but in his publication dated 13th September 2022, he mentioned some names as those parading themselves as royals from the stool, in order words, those collecting the compensation monies meant for the Weija Stool, the elder pointed out.
He, therefore, wondered why the Dzaasetse sued the others when he knew they were not from Weija, interspersing his statement with questions as “Why will he not allow the court to determine the case he filed but rather wants to resort to demonstration and press conferences and publications which will create unnecessary tension within the Ngleshie Alata Traditional Area and Accra as a whole?”
The Elder in Bortianor admonished the Weija Dzaasetse to rather prove his case in court that in deed his stool was a claimant who qualifies to receive compensation and stop using the court processes in frustrating the claimants.
“If he knows the media can solve his problems why did he go to the court. His action is more or less instigating people against the claimants of the compensation thereby putting their lives into danger and the earlier the police intervenes the better,” the elder stated.
