The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) Ghana marked its 60th Anniversary with a renewed call to action to support the Government’s bold 24-Hour Economy Policy, championed by H.E. President John Dramani Mahama.
At the milestone celebration, leaders highlighted the indispensable role of logistics, transport, and supply chain professionals in shaping Ghana’s economic transformation. For six decades, CILT Ghana has been at the heart of the nation’s journey, ensuring the seamless movement of goods, people, and ideas.
Speaking on behalf of the President, 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑪𝒉𝒊𝒆𝒇 𝒐𝒇 𝑺𝒕𝒂𝒇𝒇 𝑯𝒐𝒏. 𝑱𝒖𝒍𝒊𝒖𝒔 𝑫𝒆𝒃𝒓𝒂𝒉 𝒈𝒂𝒗𝒆 the keynote emphasized that no economy can thrive without strong logistics, efficient transport, and reliable supply chains. Ghana’s new economic frontier requires systems that operate around the clock—ports, airports, warehouses, and roads working in sync, powered by professionals dedicated to excellence.
“Without CILT, the 24-hour economy cannot become a reality. You are the professionals who will design the systems, manage the flows, and ensure that goods and services move without delay, waste, or inefficiency.”
The celebration underscored the future of Ghana’s logistics sector, shaped by digitalization, artificial intelligence, automation, and climate resilience. The government’s 24-Hour Economy Policy aims to unlock the nation’s full productive capacity—boosting exports, attracting investment, creating jobs, and positioning Ghana as a global trade and logistics hub.
President Mahama’s flagship Big Push Agenda was also highlighted as a driver of infrastructure and modernization, aligning with CILT’s vision to strengthen connectivity across bridges, ports, roads, and networks that keep the economy alive.
In closing, a powerful challenge was issued to the Institute:
