Accra has become the center of Africa’s urban climate dialogue as the city hosts the inaugural C40 Cities Regional Leadership Masterclass, which runs from September 30 to October 2.
The summit brings together mayors, city leaders, and climate experts to share strategies on climate governance, financing, and resilience. The goal is to equip African cities with tools to combat climate change while accelerating access to global climate finance.
Mayor Elizabeth Sackey, speaking at the opening session, underscored the urgency of the discussions: “Our cities are on the frontline of climate impacts. We must act swiftly to protect communities, infrastructure, and livelihoods.”
The event positions Accra as a leader in climate action and provides a platform for African cities to advocate for stronger support from international partners.
