The Akuapim North New Patriotic Party (NPP) Youth Wing has condemned in no uncertain terms the recent conduct by their Youth Organiser, Mr. Kwadwo Owusu-Afriyie a.k.a IGP, saying that his conducts do not represent their views.
They said, Mr. Owusu Afriyie in a Press Conference last Friday showed gross disrespect and arrogance towards H.E the president Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo and even went ahead to threaten and blackmail the president with the very important and critical E-Levy Bill.
In a Press Statement issued to that effect, the Youth Wing of the party in the Constituency indicated that the gross misconduct and arrogance exhibited by Owusu Afriyie is completely against their values.
“We are known and acclaimed globally for our decorum, courtesy and respect and we are known to be humble to a fault and would not under any circumstance put out such words to anyone let alone the President of this land who happens to be a son of the Akuapem Soil. One that we are very much proud of,” they stressed.
However, they averred that Mr. Kwadwo Owusu-Afriyie must desist from using the name of Akuapem Youth indiscriminately and in a manner that will bring such shame and embarrassment to them.
According to the statement Kwadwo Owusu-Afriyie is the Youth organizer with a specific mandate of mobilizing the youth of the constituency for the party but not a spokesperson for the youth of the constituency.
“We would have wished he spent same energy to deliver on his mandate. He has so far been the worst performing Youth organizer in the history of NPP in this constituency with zero initiative so far and to embark on such needless attack on the President of the land and leadership of our party is most unfortunate. For someone who purports to have landed a new job at the AFCTA office and was sharing his congratulatory fliers all over the place under this same president, the least we expected of him was to show respect to H.E the President.”
They also called on the Minister for Trades and Industries to take notice of the bad character of Kwadwo Owusu-Afriyie and sanction him accordingly.
They averred that over the period, they ignored his ruthless verbal attacks on several low- and high-profile party people and haven’t taken any decisive action against him.
“We will not threaten him, we will not give him any ultimatum to apologize for such disgraceful acts. We can only assure the party leadership and H.E the president, that, we will engage him indoors and try to imbibe into him some of the Akuapem Values to make sure he comes out a better person.”
The Youth Wing also extended their sincerest apologies to the National Chairman Hon. Freddy Blay and the General Secretary Mr. John Boadu for the arrogant and disrespectful posture and manner in which Kwadwo Owusu-Afriyie referred to them live on Facebook.
Election of Polling Station Executives
Akuapim North New Patriotic Party (NPP) Youth Wing said the Election of Polling Station Executives which ended smoothly has been peaceful, fair and the most transparent process they have witnessed recently in any internal elections.
“Indeed, we are grateful to the Regional and National Executives of the Party for their leadership and cooperation and the swiftness with which they addressed all grievances during the process.”
They congratulated the Constituency Elections Committee for such high level of transparency and fairness at the polls and warmly congratulate all winners of the Polling Station Elections and urged unity so they can all work together to Break the 8.
