Mr Stephen Ntim, an aspirant for the National Chairmanship position of the ruling NPP has pledged to form a competent team if elected, to support the president, Nana Akufo-Addo to deliver on his campaign promises in order to help the government to excel and meet the expectations of the electorate.
He said when that is done, the NPP will surely win the 2020 elections and set the stage for the party to continue winning future elections.
According to Stephen Ntim who addressed the media on updates of his tour across the country said, the tour had been successful with many indications of his victory.
Ntim who is contesting for the NPP Chairmanship position for the fourth time indicated that the time has come for delegates to vote massively for him to become the Chairman of the party on 7th July in Koforidua.
“If we succeed in doing this by allowing the truth to prevail, by being genuinely truthful to ourselves, it will go a long way to motivate the younger generation to also work in the same selfless spirit for the party,” he said.
According to him, he has been able to visit almost all the 275 constituencies in the 10 regions of Ghana and the support from the constituency executives has been massive.
“During my tours, I shared my vision for the party for the next four years with the delegates, and they have bought into my vision. As part of the tour, I had the opportunity to listen to the concerns of the party people and most of these concerns will be resolved when they vote for me as the National Chairman,” he added.
He also averred that Stephen Ntim’s chairmanship will ensure a greater collaboration among three key groups, including Polling/ Constituency party, Parliamentary party and External branches as against their current independent existence.
Speaking on his contributions to the party, Stephen Ntim enumerated that he has over the past 16 years single-handedly donated 14 vehicles to the party because he identified a need and took care of that need without making any promise.
“Every regional secretariat, and four constituencies, received one vehicle. It is important to note that in those days, this modest gesture was unprecedented in the party.”
He also noted that after he lost the 2014 Chairmanship race in Tamale, he did not relax or stay away from the party but came back and played a core role in the presidential primary elections for Nana Akufo Addo.
He said: “Indeed, His Excellency the Vice President, Dr. Bawumia, was in charge of the Northern sector, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong was in charge of Central and Western Regions, Hon. Stanley Egyir Blankson was in charge of the Greater Accra and Volta Regions, while I took charge of the middle-belt sector (B/A, A/R, ER). At the end of the day, we collectively delivered the flagbearer position to Nana Akufo Addo with not less than 96% of the overall votes cast in the election.”
The NPP he said was lucky to have an unwritten tradition that rewards members for loyalty, commitment, dedication, sacrifice, long service and hard-work and in furtherance of this tradition, his strongest wish is that members continue to uphold it by rewarding everybody and anybody who exhibits these qualities in any capacity at any point in time.
Every political party worth its salt should always be aiming at winning political power, and also retaining power for a long time. The NPP is no exception to this political principle,” he said.
