The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Asante Akyem Municipal Assembly in the Ashanti Region, Alexander Frimpong stands accused of being involved in galamsey activities resulting in the destruction of the Bobli and Pranum forests.
Information gathered indicates that the activities of the MCE, has also put the Pra and Anum rivers in danger.
The MCE, it is alleged does the galamsey with the connivance of the Youth Organiser and powerful Cabal in the Constituency.
Communities like, Ofoase, Banka, Gyadam, Mronamu, Amantia, Tokwai, Kokoben, KpongPraso and its environs, the apaper gathered, have been targeted areas for the illegal mining activities.
These are mostly forest reserves and the highest producers of cocoa in the municipality.
Information also has it that the MCE, Alexander Frimpong used 300,000 Ghana Cedis to renovate his residency, a building that his predecessor left intact.
According to the MCE, he just returned from America so he could not stay in that house.
The MCE is also accused of suspending and sacking 45 Polling Station delegates whilst, all attempts by stakeholders of the party to bring them back has proven futile.
The MCE, this paper has gathered had ignored calls by the Regional Chairman of the Party Chairman Wontumi to reinstate the sacked delegates before the last elections.
He has also abandoned former members of Parliament in all affairs of the party, a situation which is so worrisome. “The youth, Chiefs, and opinion leaders have vowed to vote massively against the NPP should they retain the MCE,” angry residents revealed.
