A delegation from the Government of Czech Republic has paid a courtesy call on the Chief of Kade, Osaabarima Asare Twi II and also visited the water treatment plant it gifted the Kade town.
Speaking at the ceremony in Kade during the courtesy call, Czech Republic’s Ambassador to Ghana H.E. Pavel Bilek who led the team from Czech Republic said the water treatment plant in Kade was very important in providing clean and safe water for the town.
He stated further that water is very essential in daily life where it is used for domestic activities and well as irrigation for farming purposes.
According to the Ambassador, the Government of Czech Republic was happy to have provided a water treatment plant to the Kade town to enable them have access to good, clean and safe water.
The Czech Republic Embassy in Accra and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Czech Republic has supported the project.
The Chief of Kade Community Osaabarima Asare Twi II on his part commended the team from Czech Republic for their kind gesture.
He said due to the high level of heavy metal pollution from the illegal mining activities and its negative impact, Birim River which served as the water source for the people of Kade was no longer safe.
“It is against this background that former President of Ghana Prez. John Atta Mills asked me, the former Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah and one other person to travel to Europe and find a solution to this menace and here we are today receiving water treatment plant from the Government of Czech Republic,” he narrated the journey that brought the water treatment plant to the town.
“We are grateful for the support of the Czech Republic Embassy in Accra and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech in making this project possible.”
Representative from Czech Republic were: H. E. Pavel Bilek Czech Republic’s Ambassador to Ghana, Mr. Jan Kozak, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Czech Republic, Metei Denk, Deputy Ambassador, Beata, Economic and Trade and David Pavlita, Desk office for Ghana.
These representatives including SEDA Africa Group, Chief of Kade, council of elders and some community members were present to witness the ceremony and also inspect the water treatment plant.
Nana Osabarima Asare Twi II advised Kade townsfolks to take good care of the facility to enable it last long to serve its purpose.
