Minister responsible for the Ashanti Region, Simon Osei-Mensah, says the abbreviation of the name of the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama (JDM), is translated “Just Drop Mahama (JDM).
The Ashanti Region Minister propounded this when he addressed a rally of New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters at Akomadan in the Offinso North Constituency yesterday as part of President Akufo Addo’s whistle stop in the Constituency.
“The Abrreviation JDM does not mean John Dramani Mahama. For those who want their liberties and freedoms, it means” Just Drop Mahama” the Regional Minister Simon Osei-Mensah said.
“In 2016, the country heard the cry of President Akufo-Addo and dropped John Mahama. That was part one of the disgrace of former President John Mahama, however, because Mahama’s heart is very hardened, his unprecedented defeat did not obviate him from seeking to return to the Presidency. He is second on the ballot paper this time round because God is going to hand him a second defeat that will be more disgraceful than that of 2016, in the 2020 elections” Simon Osei-Mensah added.
President Akufo-Addo’s Case for a Second Term
President Akufo-Addo on his party when he took over the podium said he is asking for a second term in office to complete the work that the people of Ghana handed over to him when he was elected in 2016. The President further indicated that a solid foundation has been built by his first term Presidency and a second term Presidency will ensure that “the building of progress, development and prosperity is erected in the country” to move Ghana forward.
*Importance of Parliamentary Elections*
President Akufo-Addo in his remarks observed that it is extremely vital that the people of Offinso North Constituency, not only vote for him to assume the high office of President, but he will require the services of the Member of Parliament and NPP Parliamentary candidate for the Offinso North Constituency, Mr. Collins Ntim, who also doubles as the Deputy Minister for Local Government. He urged the constituents of Offinso North Constituency to ignore all other candidates and to vote ponderously for Collins Ntim.
“If you don’t vote, Nana [President Akufo-Addo] will not get elected and if you don’t vote, Collins Ntim, will not get elected. I therefore urge everyone one of you to ensure that on the 7th of December 2020, you set out to vote for one number on the Presidential ballot and number one on the Parliamentary ballot as well” President Akufo Addo said.
