Information available to this paper indicates that Addai-Nimoh is likely to contest again at the impending NPP primaries to be elected as the party’s flagbearer for the 2024 presidential election.
Our investigations have uncovered a poster making rounds on social media containing the picture of MrAddai-Nimoh with the inscription “Breaking the eight-year cycle, our best shot. Hon Francis Addai-Nimoh for 2024.” The poster further reads “A Unifier and Hope for the Grassroots.”
On the 10th April 2021, MrAddai-Nimoh appeared on Adom TV political show “Sɛdeɛɛteɛnie” and amongst other things, he indicated that when the nominations are opened, he will file to be elected as the party’s flagbearer.
Our checks further reveals that some party stalwarts and grassroots members are rooting for MrAddai-Nimoh. In an article titled “The NPP Should Break the Bawumia-Alan Duopoly – Ben Ephson Spoke Wisdom” which catalogued reasons why the party should choose Mr.Addai-Nimoh, AlhajjSuleman, a known NPP activist argued that, the party would be sharply divided if either Bawumia or Alan is elected due to the bitter rivalry between the two.
He further argued, in support of Mr Ben Ephson’s advice that, a neutral person was the best for the party going into 2024. Mr Francis Addai-Nimoh was one of the seven candidates who contested against Nana Akufo-Addo in 2014 in the party’s flagbearship race.
Being a first timer, his performance as the second runner-up in that race surprised many political analyst including MrKwesi Pratt. MrAddai-Nimoh joined the NPP’s 2016 campaign trail that saw Nana Akufo-Addo elected as president. He has since not been given any appointment to serve in this government.
He will be coming up against two dominant candidates – DrMahamuduBawumia and Mr Alan Kyeremanteng should he succeed in filing his nomination.
