Ghana gathers today, November 28, at the Black Star Square to honour the memory of Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, the nation’s longest-serving First Lady, as she is laid to rest.
The atmosphere at the Square is heavy with emotion as thousands arrive to pay their final respects. Ahead of the ceremony, security and State protocol teams completed preparations on Thursday, ensuring a fitting farewell for a woman remembered for her strength, influence, and royal lineage.
The State Funeral has drawn a broad array of dignitaries — government officials, political figures, diplomats, parliamentarians, traditional leaders, clergy, gender advocates, and many others from across the country.
This final ceremony follows a solemn Requiem Mass held on Wednesday, November 26, at the Accra Ridge Church, where tributes reflected on her decades-long impact on Ghana’s political and social landscape. Prayers and testimonies echoed her legacy and the lasting mark she leaves behind.
