A Ghanaian Entrepreneur based in Germany has charged politicians, chiefs and traditional leaders to hand over the fight against illegal mining (galamsey) for her to handle.
The Chief Executive Officer of Henrichs Sankofa Limited, Mama Africa 1 said “we have the physics to fight illegal mining so I am telling the chief to leave that fight for me”.
The Queen of Traditional African Mothers was speaking on The Ghanaian Kitchen Show hosted by Ace Gospel Musician and Made-In-Ghana Ambassador, Emilia Arthur on TV XYZ.
Mama Africa 1 is in Ghana for a three-day free skills training for the youth at Gomoa Fetteh in the Central Region.
The event begins on Friday, October 25, 2024 with a free medical screening.
On Saturday, October 26 would be the main event where there would be free training on basketry, hair dressing, carpentry, soap making, just to mention a few.
Free certificates would be awarded to participants while registration is also free. All politicians, chiefs, queens, are all being invited to grace the occasion and to understand how made in Africa could qualify for the global market.
Then on Sunday, October 27, 2024, Mama Africa 1 and her team would feed the aged in the communities because she believes the aged have been neglected for far too long.
Mama Africa 1, who is also a Peace Ambassador for the United Nation said “if chiefs that own the land would collaborate with me, we shall fight illegal mining because the chiefs are our leaders so if they would allow me, I will fight it. So, I am inviting the chiefs. The chiefs should come”.
She said; “We need to find out what brought the illegal mining? What has been the reason why the youth are involved? If you have money but you don’t have water, your kidneys are destroyed because we drink contaminated water. We are going to India to seek medical attention because of kidney failure”.
“I was taught value in my environment so I will sit them (illegal miners) down and tell them the dangers of galamsey before we move to the healing of the water,” she explained.
Entrepreneurship
The UN Peace Ambassador said “women, especially young women, should be hard working because African youth are hungry but they need food to be able to bear fruit”.
“If we do not water them at that youthful stage to bear fruit, the economy will not work and that is why the youth who want to be trained in soap making, carpentry, dress making, etc. will be free of charge”.
“I promote made in Africa everywhere I go (Germany, Holland, Austria, Britain, etc) and I will leave the youth. Let us support the youth so that their handy work will be of international standard”.
Marketing African products
The CEO said Ghana is ahead of all the African countries when it comes to marketing local products on the world stage but on the world market, Ghana is just beginning.
“Ghanaian are far ahead of all the African countries when you compare them in the promotion of goods. We are doing well but we have to enter into the international markets”, she explained.
“We should market ourselves well. Packaging is also very important. It is just about the way you present yourself. It is about innovating, adding value, blending and telling the story behind so that if that white man does not even understand the branding, they would be tempted to buy. Our branding needs polishing”.
Mama Africa 1 said “we prepare the items in our standard but we need to polish it. Display is communication”.
