President John Dramani Mahama has dispelled rumours of an imminent ministerial reshuffle, confirming that appointments to the Defence and Environment, Science and Technology ministries will be made in 2026.
The President gave the clarification during a courtesy call by the Ghana Muslims Mission on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, following widespread speculation on social media that the government was preparing to announce new ministers in the coming days.
President Mahama acknowledged that vacancies exist due to the loss of two ministers, but stressed that government will not rush the process.
“They say Allah gives and Allah takes. He took two of our comrades, and we haven’t filled those positions yet,” he said.
“We’re not in a hurry. After the Christmas and New Year holidays, we will fill those positions. So those speculating that somebody is going to be appointed tomorrow should take their time. Go and enjoy Christmas, and after the holiday we will take a decision.”
His remarks bring clarity to weeks of public discussion and speculation surrounding potential changes within his administration.
