The Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources and Member of Parliament (MP) for Tarkwa Nsuaem Hon. George Mireku Duker has embarked on what he’s dubbed Community Mining Tour (CMT) within the Western Region to galvanize support of miners for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Standard Bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Readers will recall that just a couple of weeks ago, the Tarkwa MP who is also the Coordinator for Mining Communities of the NPP campaign team had officially launched ‘Miners4Bawumia’ campaign at Akwatia in the Eastern Region.
This time, his CMT was focused on mining communities or towns in the Western Region including Tarkwa Nsuaem, Subin Afianfiso , Upper Denkyira West Municipalities etc.
Addressing the various mining communities separately at different occasions, Hon. Duker reiterated the government’s commitment to continue promoting responsible mining to create more jobs.
The Mining Coordinator indicated to the teeming supporters and miners that Dr. Bawumia has the best mining policies for the future which will establish minerals development Bank to aid miners and invest in geological investigation to make areas available for small-scale mining.
“He will also fashion-out a comprehensive plan to tackle environmental impact of Mining and many others”, he stated.
Again, he added that the NPP will deepen efforts to protect water bodies and responsible mining.
The miners on their part took turns to applaud the campaign message of the NPP and called for more community mining schemes.
They also assured the Tarkwa Nsuaem MP that they were going to vote massively for him as well as Dr. Bawumia and the NPP at large in the 2024 elections.
