The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has announced the publication of ballot statistics to facilitate the printing of ballots for the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections.
A press statement released yesterday, Monday, October 14, and signed by Deputy EC Chairperson, Samuel Tettey, indicated that the move aimed at ensuring a smooth and efficient electoral process ahead of the elections.
The Commission stated that it considered the total number of voters on the Provisional Voter’s Register (PVR) while also accounting for a two per cent increase.
This approach is intended to ensure that there are sufficient ballots available for all eligible voters, reflecting the anticipated rise in voter registration and participation.
By taking this proactive step, the EC said it is working to minimize any potential shortages or discrepancies on Election Day.
While the Commission is encouraging total voter turnout for the upcoming elections, it recognizes that not every registered voter will cast their ballot.
Meanwhile The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced it will re-exhibit the Provisional Voter’s Register (PVR) from October 14 to 19, 2024.
This decision follows a meeting held with political parties and other stakeholders on October 1, 2024, under the auspices of the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC).
The EC emphasized that this exercise is part of its commitment to ensuring a transparent and accurate voter register ahead of the upcoming elections.
As part of the process, the EC has encouraged the public to verify their registration details by dialing *711*51# or visiting the commission’s official website.
These platforms allow citizens to check their information on the Provisional Voter’s Register without having to visit an EC office.
This is intended to make the verification process more accessible and convenient for all voters.
The Commission also advised the public to report any discrepancies or errors found in their registration details to their respective District Offices for correction.
Ensuring that all details are accurate and up to date is a crucial step in maintaining the integrity of the voter register.
The EC assured the public that prompt action would be taken to address any issues that may arise during the re-exhibition period.
In addition, the EC has urged political parties to actively participate in the process by using the template provided to them.
Parties are expected to report any discrepancies they identify during the re-exhibition exercise, helping to ensure a comprehensive and transparent verification process.
According to the Commission, this collaborative effort is aimed at safeguarding the accuracy and reliability of the voter register ahead of the 2024 elections.
Besides, The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced that it will hold another Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting today, Tuesday, October 15, 2024.
The meeting is expected to bring together key stakeholders in the electoral process to discuss important matters ahead of the 2024 general elections.
According to the EC, the main agenda for the meeting will be the re-exhibition of the Provisional Voter’s Register (PVR).
This follows the ongoing efforts by the Commission to ensure that the voter register is accurate and transparent, allowing for a smooth electoral process.
The EC has been engaging political parties and other stakeholders in this regard to ensure full cooperation and participation.
