The Director General of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), Hon. Eric Nana Agyemang-Prempeh joined other Directors of Civil Protection in Africa in Lome, Togo for the 5th meeting of African Director Generals of Civil Protection organised by ICDO from the 28th of September to 30th September 2021.
The Annual Heads of Civil Defense meeting is instituted by the International Civil Defence Organisation (ICDO) of which the 4th meeting was held in Algeria in 2019.
This platform gives various African directors of civil defence the opportunity to share experience, adopt new policies, procedures in preventing, managing and dealing with civil defence situations in Africa.
At the 5th meeting in Lome, Togo Hon. Eric Nana Agyemang-Prempeh highlighted on key disaster challenges confronting Ghana and as well, enumerated some critical intervention by NADMO-Ghana under the National leadership of H.E the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
He also appealed to the leadership of ICDO to continue to support NADMO-Gh in terms of logistics and equipment and training among others, to augment the efforts of Ghana Government in Disaster Management.
Hon. Eric Nana Agyemang-Prempeh, Head of Ghana’s delegation also used the opportunity to call on other African countries who are not members of ICDO to Join and help develop African solutions to solve African disaster challenges.
“Civil Defence and Disaster Management Organisations in Africa must get closer, network more strongly to assure a better operational cooperation,” he said.
He was accompanied by Mr. Collins OseiBonsu Regional Director for the Ahafo Region, Mr Nana Asafo-AdjeiAyeh Director of International Relations and Madam HumuAbubakar Member of the NADMO Council and Deputy Director Man-Made Disasters.
