Chiefs and elders of Nii Teinor We, the foremost ruling house of Osu, have expressed their heartfelt gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for appointing Linda Naa Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo as minister-designate for the Greater Accra Region.
Nii Teinor Ashigenteh II, addressing the media during a press conference on behalf of the Nii-Teinor family of Osu, praised the President’s decision, highlighting Naa Akweley’s exceptional leadership qualities and dedication to public service.
The appointment, he noted, is a testament to the President’s commitment to promoting inclusivity and diversity in government.
The Nii-Teinor we chiefs and elders reiterated their support for Naa Akweley, assuring the President that she would not disappoint the trust reposed in her.
They also expressed their appreciation for the President’s recognition of the Osu traditional area’s contributions to national development.
In a related development, the Nii-Teinor family of Osu welcomed Linda Naa Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo to the Nii-Teinor Family House in Osu on Thursday, 16th January as the latter paid a courtesy call to officially inform the family about her nomination.
The visit by the appointee paved the way for celebrating a major milestone with her nomination as the first female Regional Minister for Greater Accra.
This historic appointment has sparked widespread jubilation, particularly among the people of Osu and the GaDangme community in general who consider Naa Akweley one of their own.
According to Nii-Teinor Ashigenteh II, Naa Akweley’s nomination is a testament to her exceptional leadership qualities and dedication to public service.
“As a three-time Member of Parliament (MP) for Shai-Osudoku Constituency, Naa Akwele has demonstrated her ability to effectively represent her constituents and drive development in the region,” he emphasized.

Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo, born on February 21, 1979, in Anyaa-Abasa, is a Ghanaian politician and a member of the Seventh Parliament of the Fourth Republic of Ghana.
Since January 7, 2017, she has represented the Shai-Osudoku Constituency in the Greater Accra Region under the banner of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Administration, specializing in Banking and Finance from the University of Ghana.
