Some Executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the AtwimaNwabiagya South of the Ashanti Region who are doing the second term bidding of the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) have deliberately refused to respond to allegations of disrespect by the MCE towards chiefs and Queen mothers of the area.
The Constituency Chairman, Benjamin OduroFrimpong, at a press conference on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, to respond to litany of allegations levelled against the MichaelAmoahAwuku for which reason manyare kicking against him being retained as the Municipal Chief Executive, failed to comment on the matter.
Michael AmoahAwuku is reported to have insulted chiefs and queen mothers in the area for paying a courtesy call on the President Nana AddoDankwaAkufo-Addo without his involvement.
This follows the irreconcilable differences between him, the chiefs, Queen mothers and was one time said to have told them that he derived his powers only from the President and therefore does not take any directives from the any traditional leader.
According to snippets of information gathered, this angered the traditional rulers who have taken an entrenched position that they will not support him, warning that if he is retained, they will be unwilling to provide him with the needed cooperation to function effectively.
“Awuku called, warned and insulted some of the chiefs and Queen mothers when he got the wind that they (chiefs) were about visiting the president the next day. And Awuku and his cohorts bought airtime to denigrate and insult the said chiefs who visited the president”, a party source that pleaded strict anonymity disclosed.
Meanwhile, some party supporters who are aversewith the reappointment of Michael AmoahAwuku argue that the level of disunity and underdevelopment would be beyond measure if he is reappointed.
