The Public Relation Officer (PRO) of the Ghana National School Feeding Association, Madam Caroline Aboagye, has called on President Nana Addo Dabkwa Akufo-Addo to ensure that new faces were appointed to take charge at the National School Feeding Secretariat for the success of the program.
According to her the School Feeding Secretariat needs proper overhauling to help achieved protect the sustained the program.
Madam Aboagye noted that the current challenges confronting the program were due to corruptible leadership at the secretariat.
Speaking in an interview Madam Aboagye noted that the program is likely to collapse if new faces are not appointed into office by President Akufo Addo.
“The school feeding secretariat needs proper overhauling, since there are a lot of fraudulent deals happening at the secretariat,” she disclosed.
According to her, she had petitioned the President’s office over the corruptible happenings at the secretariat and therefore underscored the need for the current management to step aside for proper investigations.
She said “the continuous stay in office by the current officials at the secretariat will spell doom for the good school feeding program which is aimed at breaching the gap between the poor and the rich across the country,” Madam Aboagye stated.
She however thanked President Akufo-Addo for releasing a sum of GHc31 million Cedis through the Ministry Gender, Children and Social Protection for the settlement of the school feeding arrears.
She noted that the intervention by the government has gone a long way to prevent the program from collapsing.
“We the entire executives and members of the association are amazed by the timely intervention by Mr. President and the Minister in ensuring that the finance ministry release money for the payment of caterers despite the current economic shakeup as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic,” she stated.
She further thanked the Gender and children Minister, Sarah AdjoaSarfo, for her motherhood role in dealing with the welfare of caterers towards the success of the program.
Madam Aboagye noted that the posture of the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection has installed hope in the caterers.
She seized the opportunity to make it clear that there is only one caterers association registered at the Registrar General, recognized by the ministry and the national secretariat been the Ghana National School Feeding Caterers Association.
According to her, the Association has advised Caterers to work hand in hand with the debt officers from the various MMDAs and the zonal Coordinators at the various zones to ensure that their data are submitted on time to ensure smooth processing.
