Residents of Suhum and some New Patriotic Party (NPP) members in the Suhum Municipality are objecting to a re-nomination and appointment of MargeretDarkoDarkwa as Municipal Chief Executive (MCE).
According to them, it beats their imagination as to how MargeretDarkoDarkwa after her outright exhibition of “absolute incompetence, gross disrespect for humanity, party executives and structures, misappropriation of public funds and abuse of power and manhandling of citizens,” can still have the effrontery to present herself to be retained/ re-nominated for the position of MCE.
In a Petition to the President, they averred that the abysmal performance of the NPP in the parliamentary elections and the difference between Presidential and Parliamentary votes was as a result of the “pomposity and uncouth public behavior” of most appointees including MargeretDarkoDarkwa.
“An MCE who is notorious for brawls with Party Executives, previous and incumbent Members of Parliament, journalists etc and has garnered the accolade of ‘Obaa Tiger’, (to wit woman tiger – fighting everyone even those who lobbied for her to be appointed) for herself, cannot continue to represent your high office and that of your noble Local Government Minister in the Suhum Municipality,” they stated.
They have also enumerated some Assembly members in the Suhum Constituency are also against her actions and are therefore kicking against her renomination.
According to the Petition, Hon. Margaret DarkoDarkwa has demonstrated the most disrespectful dispensation of leadership by any MCE ever in the history of the Municipality and she is not in the good books of party executives and assembly members.
“Just last week, during the Green Ghana Tree Planting Exercise, the MCE had the temerity to organize a different program from that of the Member of Parliament. Lack of transparency and consultation: It is an established fact that lack of transparency breeds corruption and that is the exact situation we experience under her leadership.”
They said, Hon. Margaret DarkoDarkwa has on a number of occasions mobilized thugs to attack, threaten, torment and cause harm to party officials, grassroots people and assembly members who have questioned her dealings in the municipality and hence are against her re-nomination. She has through fraudulent means abused the power of her office for selfish gains.
“Hon Margaret DarkoDarkwa from day one of her assumption of office has not been able to man high the office in the manner which ought to be. Some committees and local councils at the assembly level are dysfunctional because members have not been allocated funds for full operation of the assembly, rendering the once vibrant Municipal ineffective and currently in a state of coma.”
They indicated that despite the zeal and support from the paramount chiefs and people of Suhum towards the development the municipality, the MCE Margaret DarkoDarkwa has demonstrated well enough to the assembly members and the general populace that, she is incompetent to continue representing the President.
“Margaret DarkoDarkwa is grossly incapacitated to forward march the progress and development of the municipality and the party, hence does not deserve to be re-nominated by His Excellency the President of the Republic of Ghana,” they indicated.
