The Director General of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), Hon. Nana Agyemang Prempeh, has concluded a 4-day working tour of the Northern Region, aimed at sensitizing communities and strengthening preparedness ahead of this year’s Bagre Dam spillage from Burkina Faso.
During his tour, Hon. Prempeh paid courtesy calls on prominent traditional leaders, including Nayiri Naa Shariga Mahama, Overlord of Dagbon Yaa Naa Abubakari Mahama, Tong-Raan Kugbilalsong Nanlebetang, Paramount Chief of Tongo, and Chief Emmanuel Ayahiba, Chief of Sapeliga.
The Yaa Naa , used the opportunity to eulogize the NADMO Boss for his enormous interest in engaging stakeholders ahead of the Bagre Dam Spillage year on year. He said, “ You are a Good Leader, every year you are on the grounds with us. I commend President Akufo Addo for appointing you .”
The Director General also engaged with stakeholders at STEM Senior High School in Kpasemkpe, emphasizing the need for preparedness and response strategies to mitigate the potential impacts of the spillage. He met with the Hon. Regional Minister, Dr. Ben Hafiz, and the Regional Security Council to discuss pressing security concerns.
In Upper East Region, Hon. Prempeh visited the District Chief Executive of Bawku West District, Hon. Anania Daniel Atampuba, and interacted with residents of adjacent communities, listening to their concerns regarding the impending spillage.
In Walewale, he assessed preparedness and optimized response strategies with NADMO’ Operations, Search, and Rescue team. He also addressed a staff durbar in Tamale, fostering open dialogue and teamwork ahead of this year’s operations.
Concluding his tour, Hon. Prempeh reiterated NADMO’s commitment to disaster prevention and management, emphasizing the importance of collaboration with traditional leaders and stakeholders.
