Some land guards have been accused of destroying hectors of farms lands and other properties at the Ayibontey community within the Ayensuano District of the Eastern region with Government District Roads Improvement Program (DRIP) machines.
The action by the land guards is currently causing serious problems within the area since the residents are being faced with challenges in staying in the community to embark on their daily activities.
The residents claim that these land guards are allegedly acting on the orders of Okyehene Osagyefo Amoatia Oforipanyin.
The residents fear for their safety as the destructive activities intensify, leaving many of them in distress.
Speaking to the media, Oseadeayo Adu Kwaku II, Gyaasehene of Boso-Gua Traditional Council, expressed worry over how his farm land was destroyed by the taskforce.
The Chief, who is also a resident and a land owner of the Ayibontey community, condemned the actions of the land guards and called on Okyehene and the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to intervene immediately.
According to him, the affected residents, including himself, have genuine documentation to prove ownership of the lands in question.
“This situation is creating tension in our community, and we are appealing to the authorities to act swiftly to prevent any further escalation,” he stated.
The Chief emphasized the need for a peaceful resolution and urged the police and traditional authorities to ensure the land guards are brought under control to avert potential conflicts.
The residents are hopeful that the relevant authorities will address the matter and restore peace and order to Ayibontey.
