The Commonwealth Observer Group has expressed satisfaction with the security measures deployed by the election security task force to maintain peace, law and order before during and after election 2024.
Former President of Botswana, H.E. Dr. Mokgweetsi Eric Masisi who led the group gave positive review of the whole electoral process in the country.
According to Dr. Masisi, the process has showcased true democracy, adding that the security measures put in place by the national election security taskforce were commendable and worthy of being shared with other countries.
Speaking to journalists after their observer mission after observing the just-ended 7 December general elections at the Police headquarters yesterday, Mokgweetsi Masisi said true democracy has been exhibited by Ghanaians.
The group is part 17 observers from the commonwealth accompanied and supported by a very competent team of eight.
In a related development the police deployed patrols and personnel to deepened and tighten security in all communities across the country.
According ACP Grace Ansah, the Director of Public Affairs of the Police Service, the efforts and measure implemented by the police to crack down on perpetrators of the post-election disturbances have yield results in the further arrest of 17 more people over the past twenty-four (24) hours.
The arrest of the 17 peoples brings to 123 the total number of suspects so far arrested and also run intelligence lead operation.
“We have been able to recover the stolen Nissan pickup vehicle belonging to Hon. Ursula Owusu former MP for Ablekuma West Constituency. “Persons who were arrested would be punished. And for those who are on the run, we want to ask them. How long can you run and those in hiding much longer? Do you intend to endure themselves, increasement, whatever you do, whatever it takes, we are coming for you and we’ll get you arrested,” she stated at a press briefing at the Police headquarters in Accra.
