President John Dramani Mahama has visited Ghanaian survivors of a deadly terrorist attack in Burkina Faso, who are receiving treatment at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra.
The victims were part of a group of Ghanaian tomato traders whose truck was ambushed by armed attackers. The assailants reportedly separated the men, executed several of them, and set the vehicle on fire.
Accompanied by Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, President Mahama condemned the attack and reiterated the urgent need for stronger regional security cooperation to combat rising extremist threats in West Africa. He assured the survivors and families of the victims of the government’s full support and pledged a renewed push for coordinated counter-terrorism efforts across the Sahel and coastal states.
