Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has commissioned three key projects at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), signalling the government’s continued investment in higher education and innovation-led development.
The newly inaugurated facilities — the KNUST Souvenir Shop, a state-of-the-art Multipurpose Laboratory, and the KNUST Bottling Company — were unveiled in Kumasi in the presence of the Chancellor, Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Rita Dickson.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Vice President said the projects demonstrate how institutions can excel when given the right support.
“These projects are a testament to what becomes possible when our universities are encouraged to innovate and thrive,” she noted. “Government remains committed to equipping institutions like KNUST with the tools and infrastructure they need to drive national development.”
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang highlighted the essential role of tertiary institutions in research, entrepreneurship and economic transformation, urging KNUST to continue developing solutions that advance Ghana’s development agenda.
The commissioning formed part of her engagements in Kumasi, emphasizing the administration’s focus on expanding educational infrastructure and supporting initiatives that enhance student learning, research, and institutional growth.
