Vivo Energy Ghana in collaboration with National Road safety authority has launched its road safety campaign with the theme: STOP, THINK and DRIVE which seeks to educate drivers on measures to eradicate road accidents and also how to comply with road safety signs when driving.
This event took place at Neoplan Station in Accra, yesterday, Thursday 6 October, 2022.
Some organizations that were present were National Road safety authority (NRSA) The Accra MTTD, Driving Vehicle and Licensing (DVLA) Authority, Transport unions and leaders from neoplan bus Terminal and many more.
Vivo Energy Ghana is a marketing and lubricants supplier of shell brands and too many commercial driving cars in Ghana and they also supply training to drivers.
As part of their campaign launched there was some activities of eye screening, renewal of vehicle license, exhibition of how persons should be treated when intensive accidents occurs and meaningful images of road safety signs when driving.
Speaking the director manager for Vivo Energy Mr Kader Maiga stated that this energy campaigns key priorities is to support government and it agencies to curb the menace on roads.
“Ghana provisional statistics from the National Road and Safety Authority (NRSA) and Ghana police indicate that over 2,924 people were killed in i road traffic accidents in 2021 therefore it is an issue that must concern everyone especially when drawing closer to festive season”.
According to him they are happy to achieve this through the partnership with the National Road and Safety Authority being the statutory regulatory body for road safety in Ghana and also in leading and supervising this project to ensure it meets all standards and requirements.
He noted that Vivo Energy will be training 1000 of qualified persons for one year and these trainees will be monitored if they have applied these knowledges acquired from Vivo Energy to reduce road accidents.
The representative for the Accra central Commander of MTTD Mr Williams Kissi also stated that drivers should be very careful and more interrogative to new roads which are not familiar to them to avoid unnecessary accidents and drives must also obey the traffic lights regulations because there are digital cameras that could trace any of them if they go against the traffic light signs.
Some drivers who attended the program also thanked Vivo Energy for a great work done by educating them and helping them to even renew their licenses.
